The Beginning

Well, where to start…

I had the idea of starting a blog for a while now and I guess I'm finally getting the ball rolling. My idea is to gear this towards my travels and adventures. Just a casual hobby in my down time, so I can create something for me to be able to look back on good memories.

Growing up I never really knew what my passion was, which sort of bothered me. The last few years of my life have been very interesting, as a I have changed, and grown a lot as a person.
Having been in university for 3 years now, I’m getting very tired of the student lifestyle. It feels sort of suffocating, as If I am trapped in this sheltered little world, and am looking forward to graduating.
I recently went through a phase where I was rather worried about how my life would turn out, as I was anxious about the uncertainties ahead. I found I often would worry about what career I would have, and I simply got caught up on insignificant things like that. I began to look out the window when sitting in class, and realize that there was this huge world out there for me to see.

After that it just kind of clicked. My whole view on life shifted, and I began to focus on doing what I love, and maintaining strong relationships with close friends and family. I find now that I live much more in the moment, and appreciate nature, and all of the little things that surround me. I’m now much more happy, positive, outgoing, kind, and humble, and I seldom worry about any troubles the future may bring. I realized that in the end, everything will work out.

I began to follow many new accounts on Instagram (professional skiers, mountain bikers, photographers, and ski, mountain bike, outdoor, and travel companies). This really fuelled my desire for adventure, and began to give me tons of ideas and inspiration. Shortly after that, I got the nerve up to reach out to someone who had a real impact on me at the time; Brody Leven, a professional skier for Solomon, a mountaineer, and incredible tourist/ adventurer. I sent him a very long email, and to my surprise, he sent me a long response. This really resonated within me, and further inspired me to continue along this path in life.

I am extremely passionate about skiing and mountain biking and they are by far my favourite things on this planet to do. I had previously mountain biked, and XC raced in BC, and began to again do that. Instantly, I fell in love again, and questioned why I had ever stopped. I also picked up skiing and became quite good very quickly with the help of my two best friends. skiing and biking are now the two things I am either doing, or constantly thinking about.

I now have many different lists I am constantly updating, each very specific, and filled with adventure and travel plans for the future. Some are fairly short term and smaller scale, while other are longer term ideas of a much higher caliber. Each plan varies in time duration, location, and activity. I tend to also live fairly frugally, saving my money for trips, and related equipment to explore.

Anyways, I guess I’ll wrap this up now. It should be interesting to see where this blog goes.
